Wide Awake but Dreaming

Building Upon the Unmade

Maybe it’s vibes and feelings and getting some sleep that put me in a better state of mind.  But writing went along, both here and on the story front.

May I talk about it?  Of course I may.

The Work in Progress, also known as Suggestive Amusements, proceeded as planed.  I set my writing goal as fifteen hundred words, and started moving forward.  I knew I would encounter things that would impede my progress, but I kept Scrivener up on the computer all day, and never let it wander far from my mind, even when people were flooding my Facebook feed with crap.  (How often does that happen?  How long did it take you to read these two enclosed sentences?)

I kept writing, and by the time I was finished I’d put a little more than thirteen hundred words into the computer.  Not quite the fifteen hundred I’d promised, but . . . it was the end of Chapter Two, and a good ending it was.  So it was time to end, and put the piece to bed for the night–

But not before I realized something:  I need another chapter.

Now, so you know, Chapter Three is pretty much a continuation of Chapter Two, so I could have just kept writing and not taken the stuff I’m going to put in Chapter Three, and then use that chapter for its intended purpose.  (Does that make sense?  You should try writing it out.)  But just as when I was writing Her Demonic Majesty, I see things a bit differently than your average mortal, and what I see with Suggestive Amusements is that a new Chapter Four is required.

Which only means renaming things and moving them down the road a bit.  I’ve got Scrivener:  I’ve got this handled.

That’s part of my creative process, seeing things that should be and going, “Huh?”  Really, though:  it does tell me that I’ve thought about this story enough that I know when something doesn’t feel right, and when the rightness is wrong, then it’s time to right the wrong.  Or something along those lines.

The head is a bit foggy this morning, but that will clear up as the morning progresses.  I’ve already grown bored with most of the stuff I do after I wake up–things meant to kill time–and I’m eager to get into something that will stimulate the mind.  I’ll probably work on Blender a bit before writing this afternoon, while also trimming down my Facebook friend’s list.  That’s something that I’ve meant to do for a while, but the last couple of months of general inanity and the over-posting of fraudulent memes has made my Done-With-This-Crapometer peg hard.  (I had one person tell me they figured the meme they posted was fake, but they liked the sentiment.  I suppose some people like revenge fantasy bullshit where committing a crime is okay if it’s in response to an almost-crime.  What can I say?)

New dawn, new day . . . what lays in wait for me?

If I knew I’d run off and do that.

There's a lot about me you'd probably like to know; if so, ask. You'll be surprised at some of the things I might tell you . . .
